Reclaimed Longleaf Pine is the starting point for our engineered Hollow Box Beams, rustic Urban Tables, and our kitchen Butcher Block Countertops. We recycle and reengineer 100 year old wood reclaimed from all over the country, which gives you the rustic look of old wood and lets us help protect the current growths of Longleaf Pine, which is a scarcer resource than it was 100 years ago. We cut many veneers out of one reclaimed post, and laminate the veneers onto engineered wood to create a beam that has the lightweight functionality and durability  of an engineered product, while retaining the antique look of old pine.

 

We handcraft our products for individuals who appreciate meticulous attention to detail.  Would an assembly line be cheaper?  Probably.  But the way we look at it, when things are built with love and pride, they're built right.  And that's why, at The Olde Mill, we're hell-bent on hand-crafted.

Richard L. Ourso, building on decades of skilled woodworking and successful craftsmanship, founded Ourso Designs, specializing in kitchens and baths. His business quickly grew. While designing in the industry, Richard often designed with beams, but constantly ran into the hassles of installing solid beams and the troubles of finding solid beams that matched in texture and appearance. After researching, tinkering, and reworking for over 20 years, Richard has created a hollow wooden box beam that is beautiful, affordable, and easy to install.
